Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.

Users have commenced resorting to custom matches made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how arduous these missions have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four types of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of acquiring 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.

Some of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and is effective only at very short distances, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Task

Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles

This is tough enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game right now, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and possibly a classic map if you're lucky if you want to snipe from a significant distance.

The Bypass

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Upcoming Tweaks

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are made easier in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

For now, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer gaming experience in coming revisions.
