Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
